ABOUT US

Who We Are

Class Action Capital is a boutique class action claims management firm specializing in the research, data analysis, and filing of complex class action claims for corporate clients.

Class Action Capital began in 2012 as a small advisory helping clients navigate a handful of major settlements and has grown into a leading claim asset management and recovery firm trusted by corporations, healthcare systems, municipalities, and investment groups across North America and beyond.

Since our inception, CAC has managed more than $2 billion in recoveries across hundreds of antitrust, product liability, environmental, and securities settlements, representing thousands of domestic and multi-national corporate clients, often serving as the largest institutional claim filers in these matters.

At the core of our work is a comprehensive approach to claim asset management, built to serve clients at every stage of the recovery process. Leveraging extensive legal, financial, and data expertise, we specialize in every stage of advanced affirmative recovery, from identifying and validating claim eligibility to managing filings, auditing distributions, and optimizing recoveries across industries. Beyond traditional claim management, our team provides strategic advisory, portfolio valuation, and liquidity solutions, enabling clients to monetize protracted or contingent claim assets, converting them into predictable and measurable financial outcomes.

Leadership & TEAM

Board of Directors

J.J. Thomas, Esq.

Mr. Thomas’ career has focused on all areas of class actions, particularly class action settlements. He holds a JD/MBA from The University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management Information Systems from Auburn University’s Honors College. Mr. Thomas was formerly with the law firm of Robbins, Geller, Rudman & Dowd, one of the largest and most successful class action law firms in the country, where he was Of Counsel. Prior to that, Mr. Thomas was an attorney at Whatley Kallas where he concentrated on complex class actions, as well as assisted in the intra-firm settlement administration of multiple nationwide class action settlements.

Mr. Thomas also worked as a consultant for GCG, consistently ranked as one of the best class action settlement administration companies in the country. At GCG, he was responsible for assisting corporate, legal, and judicial clients in developing and executing settlement administration plans. Mr. Thomas is an industry expert in class action settlements and claim management.

Mr. Thomas’ rare combination of plaintiff-side litigation experience and settlement administration expertise—gained from both a leading class action law firm and one of the industry’s top administrators—gives Class Action Capital’s clients an insider’s view into how settlements are structured, administered, and paid out. That dual perspective is central to CAC’s ability to identify, document, and manage claims on behalf of corporate clients with precision and credibility.

Pierre M. Wolf

Mr. Wolf is a co-founder of Class Action Capital. His focus is primarily on the mathematical modeling of class action receivables, accessing financial capital and origination of assets.

Mr. Wolf founded the Corridor Group of companies in 2007. The first effort, CQ Solutions, works with financial institutions to hedge and trade their interest rate exposure. The second, New Rev Mgt., works with companies as a principal to quantitatively augment their enterprise value. Prior to Corridor, Mr. Wolf founded and directed the Derivative Products Group (DPG) of Fimat USA, LLC, a subsidiary of Société Générale. DPG specialized in structuring and trading financial solutions for the largest hedge funds, investment banks, and proprietary trading groups in the market. Under Mr. Wolf’s management, DPG was widely considered to be one of the preeminent academic and quantitative groups in the alternative marketplace. The group was acquired by Calyon and Société Générale effort in 2006.

Through Corridor in 2007, in financial solutions for commercial real estate exposure, Mr. Wolf aligned several major institutions, State Street and Trust, Real Capital Analytics, M.I.T, and Moody’s Inc. to launch the first set of indices to track values across different commercial real estate property classes based on transaction history. Prior to FIMAT USA, Mr. Wolf served as a Vice President of Lehman Brothers, where he specialized in structuring options transactions based on Central Bank policy, capitalizing on options trading inefficiencies and developing institutional client distribution.

Mr. Wolf’s background in quantitative finance and structured products and his experience modeling and pricing complex financial exposures directly informs how CAC values and originates class action receivables. This allows the firm to take on claims work at no upfront cost to clients while managing the underlying financial risk with institutional-grade rigor.

Gregg Hamerschlag

Gregg Hamerschlag is the founder and CEO of PWM Ventures, an alternative asset and intellectual property acquisition and licensing company. Mr. Hamerschlag manages the PWM’s overall strategic planning efforts. In addition, PWM’s RingBoost division has amassed one of the largest collections of proprietary phone number and URL intellectual property libraries in the United States. PWM is also a stakeholder in a series of non-correlated alternative asset businesses including Class Action Capital.

Mr. Hamerschlag is also a founding partner of Primary Wave Music Publishing and Primary Wave Entertainment, a global music publisher that acquired culturally important iconic catalogs from artists such as Kurt Cobain/Nirvana, Steven Tyler/Aerosmith and Chicago, increased the underlying revenue streams of these assets through outbound marketing, and sold the catalogue to BMG in 2013.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Hamerschlag founded and was Chairman and CEO of Priority Home Care, Inc., one of the largest privately held home health care companies in the Northeast, which he sold in 2003. Prior to that, he individually owned a seat on New York Futures Exchange and successfully traded proprietary risk arbitrage for ten years.

Mr. Hamerschlag’s track record building and scaling asset acquisition businesses—from intellectual property libraries to iconic music catalogs—reflects the same core discipline CAC applies to class action claims: identifying undervalued or overlooked assets and unlocking value others miss. His experience founding and running large service-based enterprises also informs CAC’s approach to claims management.

Senator Doug Jones

Senator Jones brings his experience serving as a U.S. Senator and a former U.S. Attorney to support clients in the National Security, Government Enforcement & White Collar, Government Relations, and Investigations sectors. He recently served as President Joe Biden’s Nomination Advisor for Legislative Affairs during Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court confirmation process.

In 2017, Doug Jones became the first Democrat in 25 years to win a special election to fill a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama. As a member of the Banking and Housing Committee, the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, the Armed Services Committee, the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and the Committee on Aging, he quickly built a reputation as a well-regarded and effective legislator.

Between his time as U.S. Attorney and his election to the Senate, Senator Jones was in the private practice of law, handling white collar, False Claims Act, and security fraud class actions. He has represented multinational corporations, small businesses, and individuals in high-stakes civil and criminal litigation.
